About Us

Wake Forest Squares started out September 2019 with just a few people coming together to square dance, socialize and build new friendships.  Our dedicated dancers enjoy meeting often for different events and activities. Passion and enthusiasm go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

About Today's Square Dance

Square Dance is choreographed walking to music lead by a caller. It’s like playing “Simon Says” for adults while dancing.

It is a dance for four couples, or eight dancers in total, arranged in a square, with one couple on each side, facing the middle of the square.

All that is necessary is the ability to sustain a fast walking pace, good listening skills and a positive attitude. A quick mind and the love of a good puzzle are helpful too!

No fancy footwork, partner or dress required!

About Our Caller and Dance Coach

Eva Murray started calling and teaching both contras and squares in 1997.

Eva’s repertoire includes modern squares, zesty contras, traditional squares, circles, long way sets and triplets.

Eva’s love for the dance is apparent in the enthusiasm she brings to the dance!
